Here is a continuation of the Top Ten Diet and Fitness Tips -
6. Build a Strong Core
Your core muscles are used in almost everything you do from sitting to walking to running and jumping. All these activities would require the use of your core muscles. If you want to achieve ripped abs, keep in mind that you can’t achieve this by doing a million crunches every day. You need to go out and learn some good core exercises. You can enroll in Pilates or even engage in some exercise activities with the stability ball. In the end, this will not only give you that washboard abs but it will also help you improve on your posture. As an added bonus, it can also help eliminate your backaches.
7. High Intensity Training
When exercising, keep in mind that your body does not know how many miles it ran or how much weight it lifted. Your body only knows when it is being challenged. So, step out of your comfort zone and try to gradually increase the intensity of your exercise program. For example, instead of walking for half an hour at a slow pace, why don’t you try doing some high metabolic workouts instead?
An easy and quick way to jump start your day is to engage in twenty seconds of push-ups, ten seconds rest, twenty seconds of crunches and ten seconds rest. Repeat these 4 times daily. This exercise will not only jump start your day but it will also help you burn calories and increase your metabolism.
8. Chase the Burn
Before engaging in weight lifting exercises, it is always a good idea to have yourself assessed so that you would know the right weight to use. It is also important that you make sure that your muscles are burning during the last three to five repetitions. If you are concerned about bulking up, you can opt for lighter weights and higher repetitions. This will help tone your body as well as get rid of those nasty swinging flabs.
9. Read the Labels
Be smart and always read the labels of the foods you eat. It is always a good practice to understand what goes in your food. Some food products may entice you with the promise of low fat without you realizing that these foods are actually loaded with sugar. Always read the label. Keep in mind that the more you know about the foods you eat, the better you would be able to manage your daily nutrition.
10. Have Enough Sleep
After a hard day’s work and a tiring work out for your body, save yourself a good night’s sleep. This will allow your body to recharge itself in preparation for a busy day ahead. Remember that sufficient rest periods are just as important as your workout. Without this, your body will fail to repair torn muscles, which would not only impair your fitness growth but it could also cause you potential injuries.
